Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron is known for his hot girlfriend, his tattoos and his absolutely outstanding talent on the field. What’s less known is his outstanding heart as well.
McCarron has become fast friends with a student named A.J. Starr, who suffers from cerebral palsy. After McCarron saw Starr on campus unable to hail a bus in the rain, the QB offered him a ride.
Starr told McCarron about his life with cerebral palsy, and it deeply moved the star player. McCarron told Fox 13, “I called Joe Pannunzio, who’s kind of director of our football operations and I told him the story and I said, ‘Is there any way we can get him a job here?,’ He called me back the next day and was like, ‘He’s going to help in the equipment room getting all the stuff ready for the games and doing laundry.'”
Starr loves being a part of the team. He said, “Every time I come here, no matter how bad my day is, or what I may go through with my challenges, when I come here it goes out the window — I’m probably the happiest man on this planet.”
