New York Republican Rep. Peter King went ballistic during an interview on a New York Times’ editorial supporting a pardon for NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, angrily labeling the paper a “blame-America-first rag” and an “accomplice” to treason.

King spoke with Fox News’ Greg Jarrett about the editorial, which the lawmaker decried in the strongest possible terms. “As far as I’m concerned, Edward Snowden is either a traitor, a defector or both, and the New York Times is an accomplice,” he snarled. “Their editorial today — and their whole pattern over the last several years — they’ve really made themselves a blame American first rag as far as I’m concerned. Why we exalt the New York Times is beyond me.”

The lawmaker pointed to President Barack Obama’s intelligence panel, which found American rights were not violated through the NSA domestic surveillance program exposed by Snowden. “For somehow the New York Times to say that this person, who has caused tremendous damage to the United States — he’s either a narcissist or God knows whats wrong with him, but the fact is that he has done this — and he should get a pardon, or any kind of preferential treatment? Absolutely wrong.”

And King was just warming up. “[The New York Times] goes out of their way to be apologists to terrorists,” he said. “They go after those in law enforcement and the military who are trying to win this war.”

“This is monitored by the courts, monitored by the Justice Department, monitored by the Congress — there’s no abuses — and yet the Times races to Snowden’s defense,” he continued. “They don’t care about American lives being lost. They have this narrow liberal, left-wing ideological view. They did it to the NYPD. They’re trying to do it to the NSA. It’s time for Americans to stand up and reject the New York Times and expose them for the rag that they are.”
