Morrissey: ‘No difference between eating animals and pedophilia’

To say 80’s pop star Morrissey has an unfavorable view of meat eaters is an understatement — in fact, he considers them to be in the same category as pedophiles.

“I see no difference between eating animals and paedophilia. They are both rape, violence, murder,” Morrissey said in a recent Q&A posted at his website,  True To You.

Morrissey, an animal rights activist and PETA supporter, advised his fans to check out a YouTube site about the meat industry, explaining that if the content does not have a moral affect on the viewer, they are “probably made of granite.”

“If I’m introduced to anyone who eats beings, I walk away,” he noted. “Imagine, for example, if you were in a nightclub and someone said to you, ‘Hello, I enjoy bloodshed, throat-slitting and the destruction of life.’ Well, I doubt if you’d want to exchange phone numbers.”

The Smiths’ former front man was not done, however. Later in the Q&A, he implied that people who are okay with slaughterhouses would have supported a concentration camp.

“If you believe in the abattoir then you would support Auschwitz. There’s no difference,” he said. “People who would disagree with this statement have probably never been inside an abattoir.”

When asked what additional laws he would like to impose for the welfare of animals, Morrissey rattled off a short list of ideas — such as banning zoos and circuses and requiring all commercials for “flesh food” to be followed up by how the animal ended up as a food — and followed it up with a series of criticisms of celebrities who wear or eat meat.

“I would like the Queen of England to be asked why she wears an electrocuted bear-cub on her head,” he said. “I would like to ask all so-called celebrity chefs why they believe that animals should have no right to live. If Jamie ‘Orrible is so certain that flesh food is tasty, then why doesn’t he stick one of his children in a microwave? It would taste the same as cooked lamb.

“The singer Cilla Black recently appeared on television telling us how she was preparing leg of lamb for dinner, and since a lamb is a baby, I wondered what kind of mind Cilla Black could possibly have that would convince her that eating a baby is OK,” he continued. “On another TV program, an actor called Jeremy Edwards explained how excited he was at the discovery in Siberia of preserved Woolly Mammoths with enough DNA (flowing blood) to resurrect the animals — which have obviously been extinct for thousands of years. Edwards was excited by this because he said ‘I’d really like to try a Mammoth burger.’ This, alas, is typical of the human idiot.”

Morrissey went on to note President Barack Obama has failed to speak about the meat industry even though it “alone is destroying the plant,” adding that he would like to ask all world leaders why they are silent on he matter as well.

He blamed money for their failure to speak.

“I would also like to ask meat eaters why they are so certain that animals deserve such barbaric and horrific treatment,” he said. “I would like to ask meat eaters why they believe that animals should not have any rights to live their own lives, whilst humans fiercely demand a God-given right to live as they wish simply by reason of their birth alone.”
