Chicago: 13-year old shoots 16-year old cousin over Xbox argument as he slept

Sixteen-year old Raymond Galloway was shot while he slept by his 13-year old cousin. The thirteen year old has admitted to police that he was the one who pulled the trigger, reportedly after tempers flared over an Xbox gaming console.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the killing happened on Sunday around 5:50 am in the 500 block of East 38th Place. The 16-year old was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where it was confirmed that he was dead around 7:20 am.

According to police, the two boys, “Had been arguing about an Xbox.” The 13-year old, who has not been named, was charged with first-degree murder as a juvenile and will appear in juvenile court later today.

Police say that “the 13-year-old admitted to the crime with his mother present.” It is unknown at this stage of the investigation how or where the boy acquired the weapon used in the slaying.
