Rush Limbaugh: ‘Polar vortex’ fabricated by media to pin cold weather on global warming

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh told listeners Monday to chill out about the freezing weather locking down most of America this week, claiming the “polar vortex” is a regular phenomena being hyped to help sell global warming.

Limbaugh opened his program after a long holiday hiatus with a screed against the media, telling listeners that cable network weather reports are obviously designed to promote the idea of man-made climate change.

“So ladies and gentlemen, we are having a record-breaking cold snap in many parts of the country,” he began, “and right on schedule, the media have to come up with a way to make it sound like it’s completely unprecedented, because they’ve got to find a way to attach this the the global warming agenda.”

“And they have,” he continued. “It’s called the ‘polar vortex.’ The dreaded ‘polar vortex.’ Have you ever heard of it? Well, they just created it for this week!”

“Normally the polar vortex stays up there in the polar region,” Limbaugh laughed, “but SOMETHING is causing it to dip down like it’s never happened before! We’ve never had Arctic air blasts before.”

The host called shenanigans on the media’s claim that the weather is linked to climate change. “One of the core concepts of global warming is ice melting at the poles. One of the ways they’ve always sought to convince you that the globe is warming is not the climate where you live, but rather where you aren’t, where you can’t see what is really happening .”

“Well, obviously there is no melting of ice going on at the North Pole,” Limbaugh said. “If they’re going to tell us the polar vortex is responsible for this cold, that means record cold is now happening at the North Pole, so there isn’t any ice melting.”

The radio star brutally mocked the global warming media’s hysterical response to the cold weather. “Something deeply mysterious and, perhaps, tragic is happening,” he said sarcastically. “Whatever it is that keeps the polar vortex, vortexed, in the Arctic Circle (gasp) is vanishing, and the cold air is (gasp) coming to us. Normally it stays up there and now, it’s down here. HOW . . . did it get here? . . . Man is destroying the invisible boundaries that keep that air up there.”

Limbaugh explained how the media get away with this fiction. “As far as most people are concerned, this is the coldest it’s ever been in their lives,” he said. “Take a 30 year old. To him, history began the day he was born. He doesn’t know how cold it was 70 years ago unless he’s told. He doesn’t care.”

And without the knowledge of history, the radio host worried most Americans would buy the fabrication. “Forget truth,” he declared. “The truth and the Democratic Party, the truth and the American left, NEVER intersect.”

“If they can make it sound new and unprecedented, then they can blame it all on man, particularly Republicans,” he concluded. “They can blame it all on progress. They can blame it all on success, which leads to excess.”

“‘Success means people use more than their share of things, like oil and fossil fuel, and they destroy the planet when they do this,'” Limbaugh said, mimicking leftist environmentalists. “You may think this ridiculous. I’m telling you folks, low-information people eat this up when they’re told this.”
