BuzzFeed is partnering with CBS on “BuzzFeed Brews” to expand the event to New York and Los Angeles. A number of live “BuzzFeed Brews” events have been hosted in Washington bars, with interviews with House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, Anthony Weiner, Obama’s ex-aides like Tommy Vietor, Jon Favreau and more.
The debut joint BuzzFeed Brews will be BuzzFeed‘s Business Editor Peter Lauria interviewing HBO CEO Richard Plepler about the future of the TV industry. The date: Jan. 16.
According to a release, the two news outlets will be intertwined. “CBS THIS MORNING and BuzzFeed will collaborate on production of the live events including guest bookings, editorial, marketing and promotion. Together they will produce, promote and distribute the events. The content will be livestreamed on BuzzFeed and highlights and news from the interview will be featured on the following day on CBS THIS MORNING. In addition, select content will be featured on CBSNews.com.”
BuzzFeed Editor-in-Chief Ben Smith: “We view BuzzFeed Brews as a real extension of our newsroom so we’re thrilled to have the series more fully represent the breadth of our editorial coverage. CBS News is great news organization and CBS THIS MORNING has been a pioneer in building a new kind of morning show. We couldn’t think of a better partner for this important series.”
CBS THIS MORNING Exec Producer Chris Licht: “Partnering with BuzzFeed for this exciting series allows us to introduce the growing CBS THIS MORNING brand to a new audience. We’re big fans of what their team is doing in the digital world and this is a natural fit. The BuzzFeed Brews series has already proven itself to be provocative, entertaining and informative. We’re looking forward to being part of its evolution.”
