UPDATE Sept. 29, 2014: On July 9, 2014, the charges against Jennifer McCarthy were dismissed with prejudice. In a September email to The Daily Caller, McCarthy wrote:
“The accusations against me were false. Unfortunately, the responding officer chose to believe my attacker’s bizarre and salacious story simply because I was not initially forthcoming about my ex-boyfriend’s attack on me. However, I was not unusual in recanting my statement as up to 90 percent of victims of domestic violence end up trying to protect their abusers.

“As a side note, in February I passed a polygraph exam with a score of +18. A passing score is +6. The questions on the exam verified my version of events, which included that I was strangled and hit by Mr. Paleologo and that I never placed a weapon inside of or near my genitals nor did I point it at my attacker.
“I write to you now as it has taken me quite some time to pick myself up, dust myself off and gather the courage to speak out about what happened to me.”
McCarthy released audio of her 9-11 to the Huffington Post earlier in September.
She told the Huffington Post that she made the 9-11 call “after having been choked, pushed to the floor and hit in the face by a drunken Mark Paleologo on Saturday morning following a silly argument the evening before.”

The ex-wife of Pulitzer Prize-winning “The Road” and “No Country for Old Men” novelist Cormac McCarthy was arrested over the weekend for pulling a handgun from her vagina and aiming it at her current boyfriend’s head.
The Smoking Gun obtained the statement of probable cause from Santa Fe County Police that says Jennifer McCarthy, 48, was arguing with her unnamed boyfriend about “space aliens” when she became angry and left her home.
When she came back, McCarthy went into the bedroom and came out wearing nothing but lingerie and a Smith & Wesson handgun in her vagina. In a scene that sounds like it came out of her ex-husband’s latest movie “The Counselor,” she began to have “inner course” with the handgun in front of her boyfriend.
(In the movie, Cameron Diaz’s character has sex with a car.)
McCarthy’s boyfriend said that when she was — er — finished, she pulled out the handgun and pointed at his head, saying, “Who’s crazy, you or me?” The boyfriend said he immediately grabbed the gun and threw it into the toilet, then later put it outside in a trashcan where she wouldn’t be able to find it.
McCarthy was arrested for aggravated assault and released Sunday after posting a $5,000 bond.
Her 80-year-old ex-husband is notoriously private and rarely does interviews. He most recently wrote the screenplay for Ridley Scott’s “The Counselor.” He won the Pulitzer Prize for his 2006 novel “The Road” and in 2007, his novel “No Country for Old Men” was adapted into an Academy Award-winning Coen brothers movie.
