Acclaimed sci-fi director J.J. Abrams revealed Sunday that the script for the first installment of the new Star Wars saga, Episode VII, is complete, and that Disney is scheduled to begin filming in May.

“We’re working really hard and we’ve got our script and we’re in deep prep,” Abrams told TheWrap on Sunday. “Full steam ahead, y’know.”

Abrams also confirmed a casting rumor that Breaking Bad’s Jesse Plemons is in talks with the director about a leading role in the film.

The third rumor Abrams laid to rest was the possibility that the film would be shot in IMAX.

“The problem with IMAX is it’s a very loud camera,” Abrams said. “It’s a very unreliable camera. Only so much film can be in the camera. You can’t really do intimate scenes with it. It’s slow. They break down often. Having said that, they’re working on digital versions of these and so there may be a version one day. But we’re going to be shooting this next movie on film.”

Abrams declined to answer whether or not he would be directing all three Star Wars films himself, or if he would be seeking additional talent to share the screen with.

“I’m just focusing on ‘Episode VII’ right now,” Abrams said.

Star Wars Episode VII will pick up where the saga left off, and is rumored to take place years after the events of “Return of the Jedi.” The film is scheduled for release December 2015.
