As Zucker marks one year, last week was CNN’s worst since 2012

According to Nielsen Data, CNN is in a pretty serious slump — and that’s terrible news for the network’s president, who celebrated one year on the job yesterday.

Despite the influx of new talent, ideas and warm memos to the staff from CNN Prez Jeff Zucker, CNN had its lowest-rated week in both the total day demo and primetime demo going back all the way to 2012. Given the overwhelming Gov. Chris Christie coverage lately, one might think things would be looking up for the news network.

To give you a sense of the competition, while CNN delivered an average of 99,000 primetime viewers in the coveted 25-54 age category last week — again, the lowest numbers since 2012 — Fox News Channel averaged 261,000 in the primetime demo and MSNBC averaged 235,000 primetime demo viewers. Neither Fox News nor MSNBC are anywhere close to their lows.

Here’s to hoping things look up for CNN, and Zucker, as 2014 proceeds.
