Presumably, whichever intern runs the @Oreo cookie Twitter account had set it up to autoreply. And presumably, that oversight has now been remedied.
I understand the criticism of Nabisco for allowing this to happen. Just to be a pest, though, I do need to ask: How do we know that the person who was using the offending Twitter handle* is white?
Doesn’t that matter? If not, why not?
But if you think I’m touching the significance of the cookie’s name with a ten-foot pole…
*That account has now been deleted, as far as I can tell. Possibly, it used that time-honored Twitter trick of substituting a lowercase “l” for one or both instances of the uppercase “I.” The Internet is an engine for new ways to be a jackass.
