A NBC affiliate in Miami is under fire for referring to the Republican Party of Florida as the “Reprehensive Party of Florida.”

While reporting on the contentious Florida governor’s race on Thursday, the station ran a clip of a recent Republican Party of Florida ad. But the ad included a graphic at the top that read “Reprehensive” instead of “Republican.”

In a letter to WTVJ – NBC Miami management on Friday, state GOP chairman Lenny Curry called for “immediate action” to correct the news segment.

“This blatant disregard for journalist ethics and impartiality is a complete abdication of your station’s professional duty to truth at best and slander at worst,” Curry wrote.

“We are currently reviewing our legal options against your station, but at minimum we demand an on-air apology for violating journalist ethics and public discipline for any employees responsible for the creation of this graphic,” he said.

The letter was addressed to the station’s general manager, Larry Olevitch, and its vice president of news, Migdalia Figueroa.

WTVJ – NBC Miami did not immediately return a request for comment Friday from The Daily Caller.
