Denver Mayor Michael Hancock and CNN’s Jake Tapper had a Super Bowl bet that has resulted in the mayor having to play host on CNN.

The terms of the bet were as follows: the two men wagered one day of work — if the Seattle Seahawks lost, Tapper would cover for the Mayor, like a temp. If the Denver Broncos lost, the Mayor would cover for Tapper on “The Lead.”

Tapper told The Mirror this morning, “The truth is the Broncos’ performance was so bad, Mayor Hancock should probably fill in for me for a whole week. We don’t have anything scheduled yet — he does have a city to run — but I am looking forward to his taking over. The big fear of course is that he’ll be so good I’ll never get my show back.”

Could Tapper really have played mayor?

For now, we’ll see if Hancock can hack it as a journalist.
