Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was in no mood for any sass after his team’s devastating Super Bowl defeat on Sunday, telling one reporter who termed the loss “embarrassing” that the term was “insulting” and disrespectful to his hardworking teammates.

Manning was taking questions minutes after a game that saw the Seattle Seahawks beat the Denver Broncos 43 to 8 — one of the biggest blowouts in Super Bowl history. It was a stunningly poor performance by the renowned quarterback and his team. Manning earned the lowest rating of his entire season during the big game and threw two interceptions — to say nothing of the cringe-worthy opening snap that cost the Broncos two points in the game’s first few seconds.

But a short clip shows the quarterback smacking down a reporter who asks whether the loss was embarrassing. “It’s not embarrassing at all,” he bristled. “I would never use that word. There’s a lot of professional football players in that room, the locker room, that put a lot of hard work and effort into being here, into playing in that game. And the word ’embarrassing’ is an insulting word, to tell you the truth.”
