WASHINGTON — Former Republican Rep. Allen West said Democrats found black Republicans “threatening.”
West made the comment while talking to The Daily Caller in the Shaw-Howard Metro Station after a Republican National Committee Event honoring black Republicans. West attributed things like the tweet from MSNBC suggesting Republicans did not approve of biracial families (for which MSNBC has since apologized), and the comment from Chair of the North Carolina NAACP comparing Republican Sen. Tim Scott, who is black, to a ventriloquists dummy, to Democrats feeling threatened.
“This is very threatening to the left if all of a sudden you start to see blacks that are voting more conservatively,” West said. “That’s very threatening. That’s why they don’t like us.”
