Birth control activist-turned-candidate for the California state Senate conceded to liberal MSNBC host Ed Schultz that Rush Limbaugh “did her a favor” by attacking her, thereby raising her profile.

“It’s always a big decision when you decide to go into public service,” Schultz said. “You were cast on the scene after Rush Limbaugh took after you for three days on the radio, which actually seriously affected the radio industry.”

“You, of course, were trying to testify in front of Darrell Issa’s committee when it came to women’s health care issues. So here you are,” he continued. “I think Limbaugh actually did you a favor by putting you out there like that. I hope you understand where I’m going on that. I mean exposure is very important. People now look to you in a big, big way for leadership of some very pertinent issues.”

Fluke seemed to agree with Schultz analysis that Limbaugh’s attacks — which led to a national uproar when he called her a “slut” — actually did end up helping her by providing “exposure.”

“Well thank you, Ed. I agree with you,” Fluke said. “I agree with you that exposure is important because it lets us shine a light on important issues we need to be talking about.”

Limbaugh apologized for his comments, Fluke is now a liberal heroine.
