The Obama administration is taking HealthCare.gov down for some much-needed repairs Saturday — not only the deadline to enroll for March coverage, but also National Youth Enrollment Day, Red Alert Politics reports.

Saturday’s push will promote over 200 nationwide events where young people can learn more about Obamacare and sign up for coverage. Partners include Get Covered America, United Way, Young Invincibles, DC Health Link (the District’s Obamacare exchange) the American Cancer Society, Americorps, colleges nationwide and many others.

Democratic Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton, the District of Columbia’s nonvoting delegate, is hosting her own Get Covered event “to provide onsite health insurance enrollment and resources to DC residents for an effective one-stop shop of services.”

But it turns out if anyone’s actually hoping to enroll any young people via HealthCare.gov Saturday, they’ll be out of luck.

Just 24 percent of exchange customers are young invincibles, those between the ages of 18 and 34, but the administration repeatedly reported that Obamacare needed 38-39 percent of its customers to be young and healthy in order to survive. National Youth Enrollment Day is borne out of young adults’ rejection of the exchanges.

Obamacare’s one claim to fame with young enrollees is the provision allowing adults to remain on their parents health plans until the age of 26. But the rule is largely necessary due to the stagnant economy that’s emerged during President Obama’s tenure that disproportionately harms young adults and recent graduates.

Even with taxpayer subsidies, Obamacare coverage is simply more expensive for a majority of young adults, according to a recent study from the American Action Forum, a think tank run by former CBO director Douglas Holtz-Eakin.
