High schooler calls teacher communist for not showing USA hockey game, gets detention

A Massachusetts high school student received a completely worth-it detention on Thursday when he called his Spanish teacher a communist because she refused to televise the USA vs. Slovakia men’s hockey game during class.

Barstool Sports has the story and a hilarious picture of the detention slip thanks to an email tip from the kid’s older brother.

The unidentified student — and undeniably great American — attends Walpole High School in the suburbs of Boston.

“Student asked to watch the Olympic Ice Hockey game,” the generously-capitalized detention slip explains. “I said no. He said ‘You’re a communist, communist, communist.'”

The pink, carbon-copy document entitled “Disciplinary Report” then labels the hockey-loving kid’s cubed insult as “Inappropriate speech.”

According to the elder brother, the result was a single detention to be served on Valentine’s Day.

The hockey game occurred on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 in the morning Eastern Standard Time. The USA team righteously clobbered the Slovaks by a score of 7-1.
