Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain scoffed at National Security Adviser Susan Rice’s Sunday statement that she regrets nothing about her misleading Benghazi talking points, saying he was “almost speechless” and that her continued deflection is “a little embarrassing, to tell you the truth.”

McCain appeared on CBS’ “Face the Nation” Sunday to discuss the apparent revolution in Ukraine. But host Bob Schieffer also asked the senator about Rice’s assertion that any claim of a deliberate misrepresentation of the attack — by her or others in the administration — was “patently false.” (RELATED: ‘PATENTLY FALSE’: Susan Rice claims Obama administration did not mislead voters, no regrets over Benghazi talking points)

“I’m almost speechless,” a laughing McCain responded. “because it’s patently obvious, first of all, that Susan Rice had no reason to be on the program. She had no involvement in it. Second of all, she read talking points — that we are now beginning to believe came from the White House — which were absolutely false. We now know that the CIA station chief on the ground sent a message immediately saying, ‘Not — NOT — a spontaneous demonstration.'”

“And of course the information was totally misleading, totally false,” McCain added. “And for Susan Rice to say such a thing — I think it’s a little embarrassing, to tell you the truth.”
