University of South Carolina’s Jadeveon Clowney put up impressive stats at the NFL combine on Monday, running the 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds.

The 266-pound Clowney clocked unofficial runs at 4.47 and 4.48 seconds, well under the average of 4.77 seconds for defensive ends last year.

He benched 255 pounds 21 times on Sunday but skipped position drills after his dash on Monday, ESPN reports. He explained his absence as being caused by a hip flexor issue.

Former Auburn defensive end Dee Ford said in a SiriusXM radio interview Sunday that Clowney “plays like a blind dog in a meat market.”

He stood by his remarks even after the 40 yard dash.

“We’re not saying that dog can’t run. We’re just saying he can’t find the meat,” Ford told Sports Illustrated. “That wasn’t a personal shot at him at all. It’s just fun, it’s competition.”
