The Atlantic‘s The Wire is adding two new writers to its mix — Tim Carmody will cover tech and David Sims will tackle entertainment. Carmody will be a contributing writer; Sims is a staff writer. The Wire is aiming to double its staff this year. Andrew Golis, General Manager at The Wire, announced the news today.

Very happy to pass along the news that two sharp voices will soon be joining our ranks.
On March 3rd, Tim Carmody will join The Wire as a Contributing Editor covering technology. Tim is a curious, ranging thinker, writer and reporter who has done fantastic work for sites like The Verge and Wired. He’ll take on the challenge of guiding our readers through the daily tech conversation, separating the hyped from the truly transformative, and looking far beyond gadgets and start-ups.
On the same day, David Sims will join The Wire as a Staff Writer covering Entertainment. David comes to us via the AV Club and The Chief-Leader. As a history of covering both television and city government might suggest, David is an agile writer and a voracious media consumer, and he is also, Joe says, a “formidable movie-trivia foe.” He’ll be working with Joe and Esther, who have done so much already to establish The Wire on the Entertainment beat.
As you’ve all heard me say, adding Tim and David to our ranks is just the beginning as we work to double the staff this year: more editors and writers and also staff dedicated to social media, product and design.
