A former producer for “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” predicted Tuesday night that we have not seen the last of Leno hosting a “daily comedy” television show.

“I have a funny feeling that that might happen,” Dave Berg, who produced Leno’s show for 18 years, said on Fox News’ “Hannity.” “Of course, we’re led to believe that Jay is interested in doing stand up, which of course he is, and Jay is interested in working on his cars, which of course he is. But Jay Leno is not a guy who gives up at the top of his game and he was in fact at the top of his game when he was fired for a second time. So I have a feeling that if an opportunity comes up that gives him a chance to do daily comedy — observational, topical comedy — I think he’ll seriously consider it.”

Since Sunday’s revelation that CNN was ending “Piers Morgan Live,” some have suggested that the network might attempt to woo Leno to be fill Morgan’s 9:00 p.m. ET time slot.

Leno ended his tenure as “Tonight Show” host in February with the highest ratings of any talk show in late night television.
