Canadian TV thinks their erotic channels aren’t Canadian enough

The Canadian Radio-television & Telecommunications Commission is cracking down on erotic channels, claiming that their programming does not include enough Canadian content.

CRTC said that AOV Adult Movie Channel, XXX Action Clips and Maleflixxx all are failing to show the required minimum of 35% Canadian programming. In a 24 hour programming schedule, that would be around eight and a half hours.

The channels, all owned by Toronto-based Channel Zero, have run into this problem before in 2012, reports The National Post. They had only been missing the requirement by a couple of minutes a day, but they explained it as a minor error and fixed it.

A number of big name porn producers are located in Canada, such as Brazzers and Mile High Media, who are both headquartered in Montreal.

Michael Plant, a Canadian adult-entertainment entrepreneur said, “We have the big game companies [in Quebec]. We have a lot of well-known computer-graphics generators here. It just stands to reason that some of that would derive into the adult expansions.”

Hopefully Channel Zero can get their act together and keep their porn patriotic.
