Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee apparently thinks the United States Constitution was ratified sometime in the 1600’s.

During a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, the Texas Democrat referenced the beginning of the country and said: “We have lasted some 400 years, operating under a constitution that clearly defines what is constitutional and what is not.”

For the record, the Constitution is 226 years old. It was signed on September 17, 1787.

Jackson Lee’s comments were first flagged on Twitter by GOP Hill aide Ellen Carmichael.
