CNN’s Don Lemon: Hey, maybe that Malaysian jet disappeared due to ‘something beyond our understanding’

Now, I liked Lost as much as anybody. (Until the last 10 minutes, at least…) But it was a fictional television program written by a bunch of jerks who just threw everything they could think of against the wall and hoped something would stick. Somebody needs to confiscate Don Lemon’s box set, because there’s no such thing as the Dharma Initiative.

Here he is on Sunday, sharing a brilliant theory with the not-at-all-creepy novelist and conspiracy-show host Brad Meltzer:

“I’ve been getting questions from viewers on social media, through e-mail, and even on the streets. Especially today, on a day when we deal with the supernatural. We go to church, the supernatural power of God. You deal with all of that. People are saying to me, why aren’t you talking about the possibility — and I’m just putting it out there — that something odd happened to this plane, something beyond our understanding?”

This possibility can’t be dismissed out of hand, considering the many, many things that are beyond Don Lemon’s understanding. Meltzer deals with it by answering a different question than the one that was asked, and you can hardly blame him.

That’s one of the fun things about 24-hour news. You have to keep talking, even when there’s nothing new to talk about.

If you see Lemon on the street, make sure to ask him when Mulder and Scully are going to investigate all the weird occurrences in Sunnydale, CA.
