Upon learning that the Boston Red Sox would be visiting the White House next Tuesday to be congratulated by the President for winning the World Series, MSNBC “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinksi had one thing to say.

“Wait a minute, I’m calling Valerie,” she announced. “I want to go.”

That would be Valerie Jarrett, who is among Obama’s top aides in the White House and a longtime friend to the President and first lady Michelle Obama.

This was the anti-humblebrag. “I’m calling her right now. We have to go to that, Joe,” Mika said, pushing her co-host Joe Scarborough, who really didn’t respond too vocally.

Another MJ regular, Mike Barnicle, announced that he’d be going. “Of course you are,” Mika cooed in mock jealousy.

It’s one thing for a journalist to really want to attend a bigwig event in Washington. It’s quite another to mention the President’s aide by first name, as if she’s got her on speed dial.
