National Journal’s Scott Bland (whose name surely doesn’t depict the man) has been promoted to editor-in-chief of The Hotline, Washington’s premier daily tip sheet on campaigns and elections since 1987.

“Scott’s expertise and deep understanding of our political system positions him perfectly for taking up the reins at Hotline,” said Editor-in-Chief Tim Grieve, who announced the news today. “As a Hotline veteran, he takes on the role with big ideas for building on the success Hotline has had over the last 27 years.”

Bland was previously a senior analyst for The Hotline. He came to the publication as a research assistant to Editorial Director Ron Brownstein in 2010.

Also joining The Hotline team is Andrea Drusch, who comes to the publication from enemy territory of Politico, where she was a digital producer.
