The latest edition to the X-Men film franchise “X-Men: Days of Future Past” not only gives fans a chance to explore the dark past and even darker future of X-Men leader Professor Charles Xavier, a lucky few in the D.C. area will get an advance screening of the film with the man behind the mutant — actor Patrick Stewart.

Smithsonian magazine’s second annual three-day “The Future is Here Festival” on May 16-18 will feature a question and answer session led by Stewart on Saturday, May 17 after an advance screening of the film, which released its final trailer Tuesday.

WATCH:

“Days of Future Past” is based on a 1981 Marvel Comics storyline of the same name and chronicles a dystopian future in which mutants are hunted and incarcerated in internment camps. The anti-mutant hysteria of the future is brought about by a cataclysmic event which X-Men of the past, present and future join forces to try and prevent.

The film hits theaters everywhere on May 23. Tickets for the festival, including the advance screening, can be purchased here.
