Which athlete does your state care about the most?

Twenty-three of the 50 states googled LeBron James more than any other individual athlete, Best Tickets found in an analysis of Google search data.

Interest in King James was followed by Peyton Manning, who was the top athlete search query in seven states. Adrian Peterson and Tom Brady were each the top search in four states.

Most popular athletes in the country

The people wanting to keep up with Tom Brady all live in New England. Johnny Manziel is the only thing on Texans’ minds. Aaron Rodgers is top in Wisconsin. Russell Wilson is the man in Washington.

Vermont cared about Tiger Woods. Alaska, Idaho and Oregon all got lumped into the LeBron James territory. Hawaii is fixated on Manti Te’o.

Best Tickets also broke down Google searches for sports, positions and teams by sport. The NFL is the most popular sport except in New York, Florida, Oklahoma and Oregon. The latter three had NFL tied with NBA, while New York’s most searched for sport was just the NBA.

The two most searched-for NFL teams in the last year were the Seahawks and the Broncos. They were followed by the Patriots, 49ers, Vikings, Packers, Cowboys and Lions. The NBA teams causing the most stir were the Heat, Lakers, Rockets and Bulls.
