The actor Josh Hartnett — who recently got a job in a vampire TV show! — wants you to know that he TOTALLY could have been Batman, Superman or Spider-Man. (RELATED: Whatever Happened To Josh Hartnett?)

In an interview with Details magazine, Hartnett said that he was offered several blockbuster roles during his heartthrob days.

“Spider-Man was something we talked about. Batman was another one. But I somehow knew those roles had potential to define me, and I didn’t want that,” he said. “I didn’t want to be labeled as Superman for the rest of my career. I was maybe 22, but I saw the danger.”

It’s a good thing that Hartnett turned down those lucrative roles because then he may not have had the chance to star in “Lucky Number Slevin,” a movie that people who think they have good taste in movies but they really don’t say is their favorite movie, “The Black Dahlia,” which was terrible and “August,” which four people saw.

So, yeah, it’s a good thing that he saw the “danger” in taking any of those roles or else he could have ended up with a career like Christian Bale.
