When you make bets, you better be prepared to honor them. Houston Chronicle sports reporter John McClain was a man of his word after he bet that the Houston Texans would choose a quarterback with their number one NFL draft pick.

McClain said if they didn’t go for a quarterback, he would eat the front page of the paper’s Draft Day edition. The Texans ended up picking defensive end Jadeveon Clowney in lieu of a QB for their first choice.

They did end up grabbing a QB with their 4th pick, opting for Pittsburgh QB Tom Savage. After a disappointing season from Matt Schaub and Case Keenum, they badly need a quarterback. However, they also picked up veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick  as a free agent in March. They will likely put more emphasis on Fitzpatrick than Savage.
