Disgraced NBA owner Donald Sterling gave Anderson Cooper an exclusive interview Monday night to discuss the comments he was recorded making to girlfriend V. Stiviano.

He repeatedly blamed the media, claimed he was baited into making racial comments and was adamant that the players of the Clippers still love him.

On NBA ownership, Cooper asked Sterling, “the NBA says they want you out, are you willing to give up ownership of the Clippers?” Sterling responded, “Well, I’m not sure that’s what they want.” Cooper interjected, “that is what they want.” Sterling continued, “Well, that’s your opinion and that’s what the media says.”

On racism, Sterling told Cooper, “You have more of a plantation mentality than I do. I think you’re more of a racist than I am.”

On V. Stiviano, he said, “I don’t know why that girl made me say those things.”

On Magic Johnson, Sterling said, “He acts so holy. I mean he made love to every girl in every city in America and he had AIDS … I think he should be ashamed of himself … what has he done for any hospital? What has he done for any group?”

On his popularity with black people, he said, “They all wanna play golf with me. Everybody wants to be with me.”

Sterling’s wife Rochelle had previously said in an interview with Barbara Walters that after hearing the audio recordings and talking with her estranged husband, she believed he suffered from dementia. Cooper said he did not think Sterling showed signs of dementia.
