Rice University decided to try an unorthodox approach to enticing high school quarterback J.T. Granato to choose them: appeal to his pet.
The Houston-based school sent a recruitment letter specifically to his cat. They addressed it to “Kitty Granato,” although the cat’s name is White Sox, reports the Houston Chronicle.
The letter read, “As you know we’re trying to convince J.T. Rice is the place for him. I know you’d like to keep him close so he can feed you and change the litter box. Please help us to get him to choose us. Paw me if you have any questions.”
His dad John posted on Twitter that J.T. had officially chosen to commit to Rice, thanks in part to the creative recruiting tactic. He was also being looked at by Maryland, Indiana, Kansas and Southern Miss.
@JTGranato10 committed to Rice today. Rice closed the deal by sending JT’s cat a recruiting letter. Well done Owls pic.twitter.com/NBCqPX7PIG
