A man in New York City stole a bakery truck. OK. But this 29-year-old then proceeded to distribute all the goods to random businesses.

According to the Journal News, David Bastar of Nanuet, N.Y. stole the Grimaldi’s House of Bread truck idling on a street corner in Manhattan while the driver was inside a pizzeria on Monday.

Bastar took the truck, but he continued to make the deliveries, wearing only his underwear, according to the Associated Press.

The Journal News said that according to police, Bastar does not have a driver’s license.

“He was delivering bread at random places,” bakery owner Joe Grimaldi said. “It was very bizarre… They were finding bread in front of their doors.”

He said Bastar delivered almost all of the baked goods in the truck – nearly $8,000 of dough.

Bastar wasn’t caught until he started tailgating a Cadillac Escalade limousine.

“I was getting a little scared because I thought if I stopped he was going to hit me,” limo driver, Armando Sigcha said.

Bastar was taken in by police after Sigcha called his dispatcher, and police met them at Terminal Road at the airport.

According to a spokeswoman for the Port Authority Police, Bastar had a mental health evaluation and was also charged with criminal possession of stolen goods and driving without a license. After appearing in court Tuesday, he was released on his own recognizance.

And, while Bastar was on a roll, the bakery needed to send out another truck to get the goods to the right people.
