Jesus Is A Spurs Fan

Thursday night’s NBA Finals game brought out a huge crowd excited to see the San Antonio Spurs and the Miami Heat battle it out for Game One. There was a fan in particular that stood out in the crowd—Jesus Christ.

This man, who goes by the name “Spurs Jesus” made an appearance at the AT&T Center wearing a “white robe, red sash, sandals, rope belt, white shroud with a fabric Spurs logo and topped off with a crown of thorns,” according to the San Antonio Express-News.

Spurs Jesus, who wishes to keep his real name anonymous due to some critical responses from fans, says he wears the costume in order to pump up the team’s fans and bring greater attention to the Spurs basketball team. The costumed Christ said, “We’re the team no one notices, but everyone hates. We don’t have a lot of flash. We don’t have courtside celebrities.”

Obviously the answer to this problem was a Jesus costume.

Fans love him, stopping Spurs Jesus for pictures, high fives and fist bumps. Spurs Jesus says he dresses up simply for fun, and does not wish to criticize anybody’s religious beliefs. “My goal is to support the Spurs and be a positive force,” he says.
