Dan Maurer of Burlington, Mich. has scrotal lymphedema that has caused him to have a 100-lb. scrotum, Fox 2 News Detroit reports. The surgery to fix his problem is not covered by his insurance, and he needs to raise money.

About five years ago, he noticed his scrotom was starting to grow. “At that time it was about the size of a cantaloupe,” his mother said. Now, though, “when he stands it almost hangs to his ankles.”

The condition causes an abnormal growth of the scrotum due to thickening of tissue. It is mainly a parasitic infection outside of North America, though most cases in the United States are caused by a blockage in the lymphatic vessels.

Dan needs surgery, but the consultation alone costs $4,000. You can help by donating here.
