Contributing to American Growth – The Economic Case for Immigration Reform

Font Size:

Throughout U.S. history, immigrants have come to this country, made it their new home, contributed to its success and taught their children to do their part to make it even stronger. That historic success is at risk, however, because the current U.S. immigration system is broken. The U.S. Congress has been considering reforms to strengthen national security and boost economic growth for years but so far has failed to act.

The Business Roundtable, an association of chief executive officers of leading U.S. companies working to promote sound public policy and a thriving U.S. economy, outlines the economic benefits that accompany sensible immigration reform and tells the stories of several business leaders who came to America as immigrants.

“The numbers and the people tell the story: Immigration is an all-around success for America’s economy, and fixing the system would produce a win-win deal to the benefit of both immigrants and native-born Americans. By putting an often neglected human face on the immigration issue, we’re reminded of the significant contribution immigrants make to our economy, businesses and society.”
