Vice-President Joe Biden was interrupted by pro-immigration protesters several times during his keynote address at the major progressive conference Netroots Nation on Thursday.
“Stop deporting our families!” the protesters chanted repeatedly, forcing Biden to stop mid-sentence and stand silently while they yelled at him. He tried and failed to resume his speech several times while the audience applauded the protesters.
“I respect your view and I share your view but let me take –” he began, as the protesters interrupted him again. He eventually joined the audience in applause, saying “we should clap for those young people.”
Biden was similarly heckled during a commencement speech in May, after which he promised that the administration would stop all deportations.
