Facebook went down early this afternoon — not for very long — but long enough for mass panic to ensue. Not only did some users call the police, but NBC deemed the event worthy of a breaking news report.

Los Angeles’ Sgt. Brink seemed pretty unhappy about getting 911 calls because Facebook was inaccessible.
