The most exciting thing to happen to UFC in five years took place at Monday’s media day when Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier got into a totally not fake brawl.

This totally not fake brawl is obviously not a ploy to hype up the light heavyweight title fight between the two on Sept. 27. Why would anyone do that? Obviously these two have hated each other forever and it came to a head here and had nothing to do with promotion.

Jones posted on Twitter in another totally not fake publicity stunt calling out Cormier.

Come on DC where was your takedown defense?

— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) August 4, 2014

Put some ice on that face DC, you got lots of interviews tomorrow

— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) August 4, 2014

I put you on your back in six seconds

— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) August 4, 2014

Lol those baby punches from the bottom, I really hope you have more prepared than that for when I take you down again

— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) August 4, 2014

And he got what he deserved “@Lazarus_lara98: He’s a punk for pushing you @JonnyBones you got this !”

— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) August 4, 2014

But was this the end of it? Of course not, because Jones and Cormier totally, really, no fingers crossed hate each other and weren’t at all thinking of driving up the pay per view numbers. Cormier posted some totally not fake publicity stunt responses saying he’d slap Jones, which is a tactic we’ve never seen in the Octagon but would definitely pay good money for.

@JonnyBones: Come on DC where was your takedown defense?” I got some td def for you. Don’t ever put ur dirty face on me again.

— Daniel Cormier (@dc_mma) August 4, 2014

I won’t let another man get in my face and put his forehead against mine. I will react every time. @JonnyBones next time I will slap you.

— Daniel Cormier (@dc_mma) August 4, 2014

And of course Jones didn’t take him down. Three dudes took him down. And they barely could do that, because he’s Daniel Cormier. How dare you question all that is Cormier.

@matthewgrossie: @JonnyBones just 2 let every1 no.Jones didnt take him down.3 people pulled him down from the back off stage” thank u!

The UFC’s chief legal officer Kirk Hendrick told ESPN he was not proud of the events that transpired in this totally not fake publicity stunt of a fight.

“There are going to be ramifications,” he told ESPN. “Whether you’re the champion, or this is your first fight in the UFC, there are going to be ramifications from the UFC for these actions.”

Our expert analysts at The Daily Caller concluded that the ramifications were most likely an apology from Jones and Cormier, followed by a pay raise.

TL;DR: Fix your broken promotion, Dana White. The UFC used to be baller. Now it’s stuff like this. At least we got to see you fall backwards into a flower bed.
