Canadian pop singer and nightmare of a human being Justin Bieber shocked and confused the world when he shared a screenshot on his Instagram Wednesday showing he FaceTimed a girl, but not just any girl.

Instead of the usual scantily clad model, it was Malala Yousafzai, the young Pakistani schoolgirl and activist who was shot by the Taliban in 2012 for championing girls’ right to education.

He captioned it saying, “Just got to FaceTime with Malala Yousafzai. She has such an incredible story. I can’t wait to meet her in person and talk about how I can support her and the @malalafund. #love.”

The Malala Fund’s mission is to “empower girls through education.” She was shot in the head and in critical condition after a masked gunman came to her school Oct. 9. She was in the hospital recovering for months, and now continues to advocate for adolescent girls who are denied “formal education because of social, economic, legal and political factors.”
