A cat fell nine stories on Tuesday and somehow managed to live, the New York Daily News reports.

The cat, named Gizmo, reportedly slipped while scaling a 4.5-foot railing on a terrace that belonged to his owner, Samuel Jacobs.

The cat fell onto the roof of the third floor and had just missed hitting a skylight.

“I can’t believe he’s alive!” Jacobs told the Daily News.

Jacobs realized his cat was missing when he came from a doctor’s appointment and realized that Gizmo hadn’t touched his food or his water. The owner found his cat when he looked down from his terrace and saw Gizmo sitting in a corner on the third floor of the roof.

“I start yelling, ‘No! No! No!'” Jacobs told the Daily News. “I start yelling, ‘Gizmo! Gizmo!’ I’m thinking, ‘This cat is dead.'”

But after taking Gizmo to the vet, Jacobs was informed that his cat was fine.

“I still can’t believe it,” Jacobs said to the Daily News. “I just look at him and think, ‘that’s one lucky cat.'”
