MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski casually revealed her close rapport with Attorney General Eric Holder on Tuesday, earning a gentle ribbing from co-host Joe Scarborough after claiming she’s “in contact” with Holder and that their kids attend the same school.
The “Morning Joe” co-hosts were discussing President Barack Obama’s decision to send Holder to Ferguson, the small Missouri town wracked by violent riots since the killing of an unarmed black man by police ten 10 ago.
“Sending Eric Holder — I’ve been in contact with Eric Holder over the past few months on other issues,” Brezezinski said. “Our kids went to the same school.”
“But we talked about the issue of this,” she continued, as Scarborough smirked. “He talked about going to Ferguson — why are you laughing?”
“No reason,” Scarborough laughed. “Nothing, nothing.”
“And, um, there were some other stories he was interested in,” she continued. “This is a very good move –”
“I want to live in that neighborhood, is all I’m thinking,” Scarborough interrupted. “Like, you guys have [former Chinese leader] Deng Xiaoping over for dinner, that opened relations with China. Your kids go to school with Eric Holder’s. I want to live in that zip code!”
Brezezinski — the daughter Zbigniew Brezezinski, a long-time foreign policy adviser to U.S. leaders — has a habit of name-dropping during her and Scarborough’s three-hour reign over MSNBC’s morning airwaves.
