It turns out that Jesse Helt, the 22-year-old homeless guy Miley Cyrus let accept her award for Best Video at the VMAs Sunday night, is a wanted man in Oregon.

Helt, who used the platform to call attention to the homeless population problem because he is “one of them,” was arrested in 2010 on charges of criminal mischief, criminal trespass and burglary after he broke into a guy/dealer’s home because the man sold Helt bad weed, and now we see how he and Miley became friends.

Helt, who is on Polk County’s wanted list, pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors, criminal mischief and trespass, and got 30 days in jail and probation, but his probation violation led to the arrest warrant. (RELATED: Miley Cyrus Let A Homeless Guy Receive Her Award)

His mom unintentionally ratted him out and told reporters Monday that Cyrus gave him some money for a trip home to Oregon, so it should not have been all that surprising Tuesday when the Polk County sheriff’s detective showed up to collect him.

However, she said he had already left.

Did they check In-N-Out?
