Stunt surfer Jamie O’Brien took advantage of some hurricane-induced pipe on the Pacific coast to bust out a new trick on Newport Beach’s “Wedge” surfing hotspot earlier this week.
O’Brien, whose “innovative bag of tricks usually involves inflatable toys, beginner surfboards, boogie boards and winch machines” according to Surfer Today, rode up to the crest of a wave carrying a second shorter board, which he transferred to mid-wave before riding it in to shore.
The “Hawaiian daredevil” executes the transfer so seamlessly he makes it look easy, which looks all the more surreal at a the California spot well-known for wipeouts.
