Obama Is An ‘Albatross’ For Democrats

It’s always nice when events and experts confirm your suspicions.

Last week, I argued in this space — as well as the Telegraph — that Barack Obama’s “disastrous presidency” is all Republicans need to win Senate.

Some smart people disagreed, arguing, for example, that “Obama won’t save Republicans in November.” But the president’s decision Sunday to delay expected unilateral immigration orders was a tacit admission that a lot of Democrats, at least, are worried I’m right.

Then, on Monday, highly-respected political analyst Stuart Rothenberg revealed that he is “expecting a substantial Republican Senate wave in November, with a net gain of at least seven seats.”

And what did he cite as a major obstacle for Democrats? “With the president looking weaker and the news getting worse,” Rothenberg wrote, “Democratic candidates in difficult and competitive districts are likely to have a truly burdensome albatross around their necks.”

It’s too early to know how this will all play out, but it’s comforting to have your “gut” political instincts confirmed by others. Please keep checking this space for “wisdom (before it’s conventional.”)
