A sixth grader at a charter school in Washington, D.C., was hoping for Beyonce Thursday when her teacher said the school would have a surprise guest, but all she got was President Obama.

Obama was visiting the school for a 9/11 service project, and he was placed next to Madison as the group put toys in backpacks for homeless children as birthday gifts, New York Daily News reports.

“The schoolgirl told the President that when she learned there would be a special guest, she thought it would ‘be Beyoncé.'”

“I really wanted it to be,” she said, “but then I realized it was gonna be you.”

He told her his daughters would feel the same way. However, Madison did clarify that he was “even better” than Beyonce.

Suuuure.

It’s okay, Madison. The nation understands your disappointment.
