Will Paul Ryan sidestep a 2016 run for president if Mitt Romney runs again?

Yes. Yes, he will.

The Wisconsin congressman and 2012 running mate of Romney told The Huffington Post Tuesday he “would support Mitt” if he makes a third run for the nation’s highest office.

“I wouldn’t (run) if he were,” Ryan told Marc Lamont Hill. “I wold support Mitt. If he were to run, I would not. But I don’t even know if I’m going to either myself. That’s something I’m going to decide in 2015.”

“I think a lot of people, especially on our side of the aisle – I am one of those, by the way – think he would be a fantastic candidate. I would like to see him run again, but I think he’s pretty clear that it’s definitely not his intention,” said the House Budget Committee chairman.

“He’s not trying to start this buzz, he’s not trying to mount another comeback.”

This comes after Romney and his wife, Ann, teased the possibility in multiple recent interviews.

The former Massachusetts governor made waves in late August, telling Hugh Hewitt he isn’t planning to run at this point, but added that “circumstances can change.” (RELATED: Romney On Not Running Again: ‘Circumstances Can Change’)

Meanwhile, in an interview with Neil Cavuto last week, Ann Romney said about a third White House run, “well, we will see, won’t we, Neil?” (VIDEO: Will Mitt Run Again In 2016? ‘We Will See’ Says An Romney)
