Netflix announced late Wednesday that Adam Sandler has signed on to produce and star in four films exclusively for the streaming service, expanding the company’s venture into original content.

Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions is collaborating with Netlfix, and the first release could come as early as next year, The Verge reports. Netflix’s chief content officer, Ted Sarandos, said Sandler’s reach is international.

“People love Adam’s films on Netflix and often watch them again and again. His appeal spans across viewers of all ages– everybody has a favorite movie, everyone has a favorite line.”

The service ventured into original content with two series, “House of Cards” and “Orange Is the New Black,” both of which proved extremely popular. Netflix also announced this week that it has another original movie partnership with Harvey Weinstein for “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend.”

Sandler joked on Instagram that he was simply trying to sign up for a subscription, and ended up with the four film deal.
