The California-based company has already sent out invites to the Oct. 9 event in Hawthorne, and a source “familiar with the matter” speaking to The Wall Street Journal reports the new upgrades will include computer-controlled driving enhancements.
In a tweet last week, Musk told his almost-2 million followers that it was “about time to unveil the D and something else,” and included a dark teaser picture of a garaged Tesla, which many speculate will be a performance-enhanced version of the Tesla Model S. Musk has previously said Tesla will have a totally autonomous vehicle in five to six years. Other announcements could include an all-wheel-drive upgrade for Model S.
According to Automotive News, Tesla is currently working on adding certified pre-owned Model S vehicles to its product line.
