Even Democrats think Wendy Davis’ tasteless ad has no legs.

On “The Five,” liberal co-host Bob Beckel said Davis’ ad taking shots at Greg Abbott’s use of a wheelchair was “a Hail Mary to lose.”

“This isn’t a Hail Mary. This is a Hail Mary to lose,” said Beckel. “This is like running the other way with the ball.”

Beckel, who was Walter Mondale’s campaign manager during in 1984 race against Ronald Reagan, continued his critique of the controversial ad.

“This is the kind of thing that you never, ever do, is take advantage of some of your opponents physical or mental…conditions. It’s almost certain to backfire in every direction you could possibly imagine.”

“Who’s thinking…I don’t know who’s the consultants on the campaign, but boys, whoever you are, resign.”

In a rare moment of agreement, fellow co-host Greg Gutfeld concurred with Beckel.

“This is a sign of desperation,” said Gutfeld. “They held it for so long and said, ‘We gotta do this.'”
